The Quarter Bin The Quarter Bin

Overview

If you’ve ever stepped foot inside your neighborhood comic book store or wandered the vast exhibitor hall of a pop culture convention, then chances are you’ve seen what is colloquially called a quarter bin. These are long boxes full of discounted comic books that have often been damaged, discarded, or are otherwise unwanted. From time to time, you might find the odd interesting gem hidden away inside, or that one back issue you’ve been scouring the earth in search of for years. By and large though, these are the comics that nobody wants to buy.

This series is called The Quarter Bin because that concept is the perfect encapsulation of our world of misfit nerds. Life has rejected them, cast them aside, and kicked them a couple times for good measure. But at their local comic shop, where all manner of geek, dork and doofus are welcomed with open arms and a genial smile, they find value in each other.

Amidst geeky shenanigans, close friendships are forged and romantic relationships blossom within an eclectic cast of lovable losers. Nerds take a multitude of forms, and through their diversity — in passion, perspective, and identity — the series will explore the true face of nerd culture, warts and all. Pop-culture referential humor will show that being a nerd isn’t about what you love so much as how you love it.

The series centers around the employees & customers of Excelsior Card & Comics. It is the story of two best friends, Zoe and Dev, as they develop their new comic together, braving the obstacles that every aspiring creator must face, all the while dealing with their own chaotic personal lives as well as those of their friends. Fun times will be had and hard lessons will be learned as they struggle to achieve their goals.
